Your Quick Guide to Using Retinol For Skin

Just like other vitamins with regular names like ascorbic acid aka Vitamin C, retinol is another name for Vitamin A. This vitamin is one of the buzziest in the skincare industry and you’ll see why it’s everyone’s sweetheart in a minute.

Generally found in creams, serums, and body oils, retinol addresses a wide range of skin concerns from acne, dullness, aging, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, and wrinkles.

We love this ingredient because its mechanism is close to none. It works its way from the upper layer of the skin to the middle layer and helps neutralize the appearance of various skin concerns.

Retinol just doesn’t travel to the middle layer to work internally, it makes sure to do some gentle exfoliating work on the surface of the skin to improve texture and tone.

As much as we love retinol, it’s not for everybody. If you suffer from rosacea, eczema, or psoriasis it’s probably best to avoid retinol. We often advise pregnant or breastfeeding mothers against usage as well.

If all of this does not apply to you, you’re free to add this amazing ingredient to your regimen. Make sure to introduce it slowly (or any new skincare product) and apply ONLY at night because of sun sensitivity.
